Lieutenant Colonel Joseph Monroe is currently serving as Military Faculty Advisor with Command and Staff College, Marine Corps University, Quantico, Virginia. LtCol Monroe has served in a variety of operational and staff assignments since his commissioning in 1991. He holds military occupational specialties in infantry and logistics. He took part in Operation RESTORE HOPE and CONTINUE HOPE in Somalia, Operation SEA SIGNAL in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, Operation Iraqi Freedom I, and OIF 06-08. He served in a variety of billets in 2nd Marine Division, 1st Marine Logistics Group, 1st Marine Division, and II MEF. He was also assigned to MAGTF Staff Training Program as an instructor for logistics and warfighting. Prior to his current assignment he was the commanding officer of the Marine Detachment in Fort Lee, Virginia.
 
LtCol Monroe graduated from Florida State University in 1991 with a degree in Criminology. He is also a graduate of numerous military schools including Amphibious Warfare School in 2000 and the US Naval War College in June 2004.
